In August, 2005 Faith Village’s mission efforts entered a new and exciting arena of work with their oversight and support of Ron and Patti Fox in Donetsk, Ukraine.

Ron and Patti have been members of Faith Village from 1982 until this time. Ron served as a Deacon and as an Elder from 1995 to 2005. They have three children, all married, and three grand children.

Ron and Patti moved to Donetsk to serve the Lord as teachers in the Ukrainian Bible Institute. They have been to the Ukraine on two previous occasions to teach for one of the three week core sessions (2003 and 2004). Ron taught 1 Corinthians and Narrative Preaching and Patti taught the ladies class. Patti’s subjects were Counseling for Women and Setting Up and Facilitating Support Groups. Faith Village helped them with their travel funds on those occasions.

The Ukrainian Bible Institute was established in 1994 to meet the needs of a young and growing church in the Donbass region of Ukraine. A campaign led by Sonny Hart in 1993 demonstrated the city and region were receptive to the gospel. Ten congregations were established and hundreds were baptized into the Lord. The school was established to insure that the newly formed church would grow, mature and be firmly founded. In 2000 UBI became one of the international branch campuses of the Sunset International Bible Institute at the request of the founders of the school.

For ten years UBI has been training gospel ministers and their wives to serve our brethren in the Ukraine. The current director and his wife are Jay Don and Mary Lee Rogers. As of 2004 there have been 80+ graduates of UBI. From these graduates and present students approximately 60+ congregations are becoming stronger, 10 + new congregations began meeting in the past 2 years, 500+ people have been baptized into Christ, 80+ classes/sermons are being taught each week by our students.

Ron and Patti plan to serve in Donetsk for 3 to 5 years. In addition to support from Faith Village, they receive monthly support from the Sycamore View Church of Christ in Memphis, Tennessee and the 16 th & Pile Church of Christ in Clovis, New Mexico and numerous friends and family. Many other congregations of the Lord’s body have contributed to this work. All who have given to this effort are deeply appreciated.
